The original Blackwing 602 was considered the best pencil in the world and had prominent fans: from Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck to Leonard Bernstein to the inventor by Bugs Bunny, the pencil had many loyal followers. Reason enough for the traditional US company California Cedar to buy and revive the Blackwing brand.

The 6th generation pencil maker looks back on 150 years of experience and today has the Blackwings produced in Japan from its Californian cedar wood. The Japanese graphite is by far the best in the world. Added wax creates a buttery writing feel and brings the Blackwing 602 slogan back to life: “Half the pressure – twice the speed”

The square erasers are interchangeable.
