Modern Gender is an experimental and conceptual project at the interface of sociology and photography. The first part Masculinities explores how photography can influence the male habitus while giving men space to experiment.

For the project, photographer and designer Aline Pape photographed 30 men over a period of two years and gave them the opportunity to try out "feminine" clothing and accessories as part of a protected shoot. The result is aesthetic portraits and photos.

At the end of 2022, the project was published as a photo book box in collaboration with GRAVUR Verlag in a limited edition of 100 handmade books.
The work was shown in a solo exhibition in Paris in May 2023 and most recently toured Germany with selected works and the book.
