Chic kitchen towels in bitmap design
--
The towels were designed by the American graphic designer Susan Kare. Susan Kare is a pioneer of early computer graphics interface design. She began working at Apple Computer in the '80s, designing fonts, icons, and visuals for the original Macintosh operating system and applications. Kare designed this range of textiles for the Jacquard loom, an early example of computer controlled machines operated by punch cards and invented by Joseph Jacquard in 1801. This line of fine textiles celebrates the parallels between weaving and pixelation; both are based on the idea of a grid spread across the surface of a medium.
